Fluid Movement are a collective of award winning mixologists, who share a passion for creating great drinking experiences.
The teams interest in delving into the heritage and provenance of drinks, and presenting them with a theatrical and interactive flourish, allows us to be directional in the future of bartending. Our services include bespoke events, consultancy, training and site management.
We own and opperate two of London's most talked about cocktail bars - Purl and The Worship Street Whistling Shop. Both bars have a forward thinking emphasis on historically inspired drinks, harnessing the art of rotary evaporation and techniques including spherification and liquid nitrogen.

Fluid Movement was formed by a group of individuals who wanted to evolve cocktails and bars into a more exciting and engaging prospect.
Now, our team comprises of highly experienced individuals born out of award winning bars, Brand Ambassadorship for global brands, consultancy for some of the the UK's leading restaurant and bars and catering for bespoke events.
Our events are inspired by the science of flavour and often incorporate multi-sensory drinking experiences, theatrical drinks and highly bespoke cocktail menus. Our training and consultancy work draws on historical drinking trends, forward thinking cocktails and features depth seminars and practical workshops.

Historically inspired drinks are showcased at our two London bars - Purl London , in the heart of Marylebone, and The Worship Street Whistling Shop , on the border between the City and Shoreditch. With a purpose built lab we have developed cocktail lists that are exciting and truly innovative.

June 2011, Prague, Czech Republic
We were invited to the first every Prague Bar Show, organised by BarLife in the Czech Republic. The event involved a number of seminars from industry experts such as Ian Burrel, Joerg Mayer and ourselves.
We also presented two bar awards at the awards ceremony.
It was a great honour to be involved in the first ever bar show in Prague. We hope to see many more!
Taste of London - June 2011, London
During the four day Taste festival, held annually in Regents Park, we partnered with our friends at Chase Distillery to create a drinking experience like no other.
Utilising the Chase portfolio, we created five bespoke cocktails that were on sale to the visitors of the show. The drinks used Chase Vodka, Chase Marmalade, Williams Gin as backbones, we then added some creative flair to develop drinks such as the Royal Jam (Williams Gin, strawberry jam, lemon, lavender bitters & English Sparkling wine, served with an earl grey 'air'), and the Grapefruit Julep (Chase Marmalade, fresh mint, lime and soda).
Cocktail & Canape Matching - February 2011, London
We colaborated with the well renowned team at Temple & Shian to create a masterpiece of cocktail and canape matching.
February 2011, Prague
The Fluid Movement team were asked by the Reserve Brands Group to conduct a series of short seminars based around Ron Zacapa & Johnnie Walker Blue Label at Hilton's European F&B Summit.
We developed ritualistic serves based around the brands and presented them to groups of Food & Beverage Managers from Hilton Hoels all over Europe. The served utilised forward thinking techniques and included a Blue Label drink served in a traditional Scottish Quaich, with a 'Highland Mist', comprising of heather honey & sherry water poured over dry ice.
Winter 2010
We worked closely with a team from Hendrick's Gin to recreate the lost classic winter warmer of Purl. Through researching the drink in historical texts we developed a recipe based on historical accounts and contemporary drinking habbits.
The recipe for the drink was a close guarded secret until finally revealed at a Dickensian themed winter event .for press and media.
Winter 2010 - Central London
Fluid Movement worked with Fluid State to create a 1970's Fantasy Island drinking experience.
We created a bespoke cocktail based around a Pina Colada for the event. Incorporating elements of Molecular Mixology, we mixed a Pina Colada sorbet using dry ice and a Kitchen Aid food mixer. This was served with a wooden spoon and on top we sat a pineapple leaf, with a homemade pineapple & cardamon jelly and sphreification of coconut milk and peppermint bitters.
Autumn 2010 - New Bond Street, London
DKNY Jeans on New Bond Street asked us to create a pop-up bar based around our cocktail bar, Purl, in Marylebone.
We stood a bartender in their New Bond Street window, armed with crates and a lot of alginate, and set him to task making thousands of mango caviar balls.
Inside we served New York speakeasy cocktails to the trendy folk of London Fashion Week.
We have have conducted our training programs to some of the best bartenders in the world, on an international stage. Our seminars cover the history, production, culture and uses of spirits, beer, wine coffee & tea, in engaging passionate sessions. Much of the work we have carried out has involved a progression of basic cocktail training, right up to menu design and molecular mixology techniques.

November 2011, Athens, Greece
The Greece Bar Accademy apporached us to conduct a two day seminar for seventy of Greece's best bartenders.
We covered around twelve different subjects from barrel ageing to rotary evaporation. We invited bartenders behind the bar to practice drinks themselves and kept the session highly interactive. The result was a 15 hour session that covered in great detail most of the common molecular mixology techniques as well as popular trends form around the world.
July 2011, New Delhi, India
The final part of our involvement with the 2011 World Class program saw us travel to Delhi to conduct seminars at the biggest cocktail competition in the World.
Whilst bartenders from over 30 countries competed to be crowned the 'World Class Bartender of the Year', we conducted seminars on 'Ritualistic Serves' to the 500 or so guests that were attending the week long competition. We also managed a Johnnie Walker Blue Label themed evening. We were honoured to be invited to the event, where the greatest names in the industry were gathered.
May 2011, Dubai & Lebanon
We worken in conjunction with African & Eastern in Dubai, and Reserve Brands in Lebanon to conduct World Class Seminars to over 60 bartenders.
Based around the competitions rum round, Thomas and Tristan presented ritual serves of Ron Zacapa drinks, and then judged the competitions in both Dubai and Beirut. The presentation included ice carving techniques, use of dry ice fogs, smoking cocktails, wax sealing and tobacco infsions.
Spring 2011 - King's Cross, London
In early May VOC opened it's doors. A revolutionary new cocktail bar, designed from the ground up by the Fluid Movement team. We were tasked with creating something fantastic out of a small space near King's Cross Station.
We delved into the history books and developed a concept based around the Dutch East Indies Company, and East indian punch houses.
Featuring bottle and barrel aged punches, as well as a vast array of arrack, genever and gin, VOC offers something entirely new to the London Cocktail scene. Our team planned and organised everyting, from renovations, design, branding, music, furniture, staff, menu, training and the launch.
March 2011 - Edinburgh, Nottingham, London and Brighton, UK
As part of the UK World Class program, run by Diageo, Fluid Movement were asked to present ritualistic Tequila cocktails at four separate Tequila forums.
Drawing from the qualities, production processes and flavour profiles of the Don Julio range, we designed and presented three drinks to audiences of 50-70 bartenders. One of these drinks was a Don Julio Anejo served with a clarified sangriita, in a bell-jar filled with tomato vine scented steam, emulating the fresh tomato aromatics of the Tequila itself.
January 2011 - Barcelona & Madrid, Spain
Fluid Movement were asked by Reserve Brands Group in Spain to present cocktails to a large selection of bartenders in Barcelona & Madrid. In addition to the presentation of forward thinking brand inspired drinks, we were also invited to judge the World Class competition in both cities. In both bars we presented to groups of over 30.
We also conducted a training session to a group of trainee bartenders at Madrid's Chambers of Commerce.
Winter 2010 - Canary Wharf, London
We worked with Davy's, the respected chain of London wine bars, to develop their cocktail offering in the Canary Wharf site.
Drawing on the history of the company itself and introducing a revolutionary cocktail list that revived lost classics such as the Saratoga Bracer and Port Wine Flip .
Fluid Movement continue to consult with Davy's with an ongoing training plan throughout their many outlets.
Autumn 2010
Reserve Brands Group asked Fluid Movement to talk at their World Class Rum seminars that took place across the UK.
We desgined two highly bespoke cocktails tha incorporated forward thinking techniques, whilst representing the identity of the brands and bringing in significant historical events that rum had played a part in. During the 3 hour seminars we spent 45 minutes talking through and making the cocktails to audiences of up to 70 people.
Seminars took place in Edinburgh, Manchester, London and Bournemouth to some of the UK's best bartenders.
Autumn 2010 - Romania
The Fluid Movement team were invited by Barmania to spend three days in Romania training and educating the country's top bartenders and judging the mixology section of their total beverage competition Barmaniada.
Two full days of seminars covered everything from basic bartending techniques and classic cocktails and looked at the history of mixed drinks through the eyes of great bartenders such as Professor Jerry Thomas and David A Embury. Molecular mixology was also a big feature of the training and we looked at the practical application of creating airs, foams, spherification and the uses of ingredients like liquid nitrogen and dry ice.
A section on How to create signature serves or competition drinks offered an insight into the techniques and knowledge involved in creating bespoke drinks and mixology competition preparation.
Autumn 2010 - London
During London Cocktail Week, the team conducted three Molecular Mixology masterclasses on behalf of Reserve Brands, Diageo.
The brand lead seminars took place in front of 90 bartenders, journalists, bloggers and consumers over the three evenings. We covered subjects ranging from Liquid Nitrogen, to fogs, spherification and foams.
Spring 2010 - Bank, London
The Folly opened its doors in October 2010 to an expectant crowd of 1400 City dwellers offering a botanical influenced restaurant and bar with a seasonally changing cocktail list created bespoke for Drake and Morgan. Fluid Movement entertained guests on the mixology table and treated them to the T Air, a cocktail of Tanqueray gin, pear puree, elderflower cordial and ginger bitters finished with a earl gray tea air. The recently launched winter collection by Fluid Movement include warm winter libations like the Spiced Apple Toddy a combination of calvados, cider, winter spices, sugar and liquorice.
Fluid Movement continue to work on innovation for Drake and Morgan and will be adapting the offering to keep up with current trends and forward thinking serves.
Fluid Movement spent an entire month in Azerbaijan, conducting one of our biggest projects to date - A 200 capacity restaurant with two bars, each requiring inspiring cocktail lists and well trained staff.
We consulted across the board from equiping the bar with the necessary tools, conducting category spirits training, cockail seminars, molecular mixology techniques, back of house management, service skills and professionalism.
